Google Ads versus Facebook Ads

Internet concept on blackboardOne of our new clients has been asking some great questions about the difference between a Facebook lead and a Google lead. Niki was able to explain to him when you want to use Google ads versus Facebook ads–they are actually very different! Knowing the difference can really help all small business owners choose the best strategy for them.

How Google Ads versus Facebook Ads Are Directed

Facebook and Google have different rules regarding where you can direct an ad.  Facebook allows you to direct ads to a landing page, whereas Google dictates that you must send people to an actual website.  The reason for this is because Google’s goal lies more in giving their users information rather than a sales process.  Facebook doesn’t have the same rules, which is why you are able to direct people to a site to collect their information and use it more as a sales tool.

Benefits to Using Google Ads versus Facebook Ads

  • Ad Words clicks are generally less expensive that Facebook clicks, meaning you can get more for your budget.
  • The majority of internet users are going to search for you using Google, and potential clients or patients might not know exactly what you do.  Keywords and ads allow them to “discover” you in an organic way.
  • Every click to your website is also going to help your search engine optimization with Google, whether it is a paid click or not.  Our clients who have used Ad Words for a long time find that their organic ranking improves with continued use of Ad Words, making their site easier to find on Google.
  • Although Facebook ads allow you to collect information directly, when people find you on Google and finally contact you, they are much more qualified leads because they have spent time on your website learning about you and what you do.  The closing rate with these leads tends to be much higher.

We hope this insight into Google ads versus Facebook ads is helpful! You obviously don’t have to choose just one or the other, but if you have a limited ad budget, we do think that Google ads generally give you the most bang for your buck.
