As we’ve been discussing recently, occasionally taking the time and energy to do a brand refresh (including a new logo and updated website) is an important part of owning your own business. But it can be an intimidating–and even emotional–process, so too many of us keep putting off making the changes that can make a big difference to business growth. This is why it can really help to hire an outside party to help you make these changes. We recently had the pleasure of helping Kyndra Georgeson create a new Platinum Design Studio website, with the help of Victoria Wolf of Red Wolf Marketing, so we thought we would share a little bit about why this was an important step for her to take for her business and what changes we made to take her site up to the next level.

One urgent reason to create a new Platinum Design Studio website was that the old theme had become obsolete. This is likely to be the case for you too if you’ve had your website for several years, and though it might seem like a pain, it’s a good push to update other things as well.

Since Kyndra is an interior designer, it was particularly important that her website reflect her work. The old site wasn’t doing a great job conveying the feel of her brand–which is light, open, and colorful–and we wanted the new website to do a better job of showcasing her work and beautiful photos. The new site allows her work to truly shine, and the updated gallery allows potential clients an easy way to access pictures of past projects.

Other practical considerations that make a new website an imperative for business owners trying to appear more professional and current while actually improving their web search results are responsive web design and cutting-edge SEO practices. In terms of responsive design, we spent a lot of time making sure that the Platinum Design Studio mobile site looked just as good as the website. And to improve SEO, we built the site using WordPress and worked with our team to make sure that we are using the best SEO practices available. We also added a blog feature that will help improve SEO.

The new Platinum Design Studio website is not a big departure from the original brand, but rather an enhancement of it.
