National Mom and Pop Business Owners Day is Tuesday, March 29, and while Focus Marketing & PR isn’t by definition a ‘Mom and Pop shop,’ we, like our entire customer-base, certainly embody the small, independent business proto-type. This recognition is no minor detail, for in 2021, our small businesses played a critical role within the U.S. economy and accounted for 99% of the country’s employer firms. 

As we approach this milestone day first honored in 1939, let’s celebrate one another and sing our praises a little louder by honoring the struggles we’ve overcome and the successes we’ve achieved. Consider celebratory actions, such as shopping local and debunking big box stores and online giants; ordering a meal for take-out or dine-in from a newer restaurant; enjoying coffee from a local roaster; or even scheduling a home or self-care service from an independent business person.
